At present, the market is dominated by Category 5 (cat5) over Category 5 (cat5e) and Category 6 (cat6), which also includes unshielded (UTP), single shielded (FTP&STP) and double shielded (SFTP).

(1) Unshielded Twisted Paired: Twisted-pair UTP is the most widely used cabled system in China. It is suitable for network applications with a transmission bandwidth of less than 250MHz and no special performance requirements. Its advantages are good overall performance, low cost, and easy construction and maintenance. Six cabling systems have reached the performance limits of unshielded twisted pair.

(2) Foil Twisted-Pair: twisted pair FTP shielded by aluminum foil, large bandwidth, strong anti-interference performance, with low smoke halogen-free characteristics. Relatively, the price and installation cost of the shielded wire are higher than that of the unshielded wire, and the cable bending performance is slightly worse. Six types of lines and previous shielding systems mostly use this form.

(3)Shielded Twisted-Pair: Independently shielded twisted-pair STP, each pair of wires has an aluminum foil shield, and all four pairs of wires together have a common metal braided shield, which is the standard structure for seven types of wires. It is suitable for high-speed network applications, provides highly confidential transmission, supports new applications in the future, helps unify the cabling platform of current network applications, so that all kinds of information, from E-mail to multimedia video, can be transmitted in the same high-speed system.

(4) Double shielded twisted pair wire (SFTP), adding a layer of woven net on the basis of aluminum foil. Commonly used for aluminum magnesium wire braided mesh, also useful tin wire or tinned copper wire, with anti-interference and highly confidential transmission, suitable for professional wiring projects.
